Frequently Asked Questions

Thinking about updating your closet or organizing your space more efficiently? You probably have a few questions—and we're here to help. This FAQ covers some of the most common things people want to know when considering a custom closet solution. Whether you're just starting to explore options or getting ready for a design consultation, this is a good place to find answers.

What is the average cost of a walk-in closet?
The cost of each closet varies based on each customer's specific needs, but a typical closet tends to range between $3,500 - $8,000.
What is your average lead time from design to installation?
We typically have an 6 – 10 week lead time, but it is always best to check with your designer when you begin your project to see when we are able to install.
What does the design process consist of?
As part of our free design consultation, we will visit your home to take initial measurements, suggest layout recommendations, create and review 3D renderings of the space with you and help select all finishes and accessories for your space.
Do your contractors work directly for you? Do you use subcontractors?
All of our installers are employees of Concept II and work directly for us. We do not use subcontractors to install our closet systems.
Can I work with my own builder or contractor to perform the work and purchase just the closet system from Concept II?
Yes, you can work with your own installer, however, we are unable to include the lifetime warranty as we can only stand behind the craftsmanship of our own work.
What materials are your closets made from?
Our closets are made from thermally fused laminate (TFL), which involves fusing a paper sheet to a furniture-grade hardwood composite substrate. All of our boards are certified green and sustainable by the Composite Panel Associations ECC Sustainability Standard. They are fully Eco-Certified, 100% Recyclable and contain zero chemical wood preservatives.
How much weight do your storage systems support?
All our closet board material is tested to 100 pounds per square foot. In situations where extra heft is needed, we can add feet or support cleats for added protection.
How durable are the materials?
Your closet material is very robust and will not be damaged by an occasional spill as long as you don't allow standing liquids to stay on the material.
Do I need to be home during my installation?
No, you do not need to be home for the installation. Our installers are highly trained and professional. You are more than welcome to come and go as you please throughout the day.
How long will it take to install my closet?
Typically, the average closet will take only 1 - 1.5 days to install. More complex or larger projects can often take up 4 days to complete.
Do your closets have a backer on them so I won't see the holes in my walls?
We do have an option to add a backing to the closet systems if it is needed.
Do you tear out, patch and paint the space as part of the process?
We do not handle any of the tear out or painting of the space but we will happily recommend local professionals who can handle that part of the process for you.
Am I able to change or modify my closet after it is installed? Can I add new shelves or drawers at a later date?
Yes, our systems are fully adjustable, modular, and expandable meaning you can always add or change as your needs grow.
Do you offer a warranty on your closets?
Yes, we offer a lifetime warranty on the material and workmanship. Accessories, however, are not included and the warranty is not transferrable if the closet system is moved.
Can I take my closet with me when I move?
You sure can! All our closets are modular units that are fully capable of being disassembled and reassembled somewhere else. The warranty, however, does not transfer if the closet system has been moved.
